the one thing i most wanted was the level at which ship upgrades are usable before i make them example would be armour planking 3 lvl 30 so i know which to actually make.

Great web site but I’m not so fond of the new interface. It takes way too many clicks to get the information. For example, I’d rather see what a recipe requires AND what it produces AND what structure is required all on one page - not each on a different tab.

Comment by: matze at 2008-01-24 08:02:51 (IP: Logged)

nice work thx! But could you pls make the talent calculator work for others classes as well.

Comment by: Valeroth at 2008-01-24 13:44:19 (IP: Logged)

Do you have the Unrest supplies recipies anywhere?

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-01-24 15:04:06 (IP: Logged)

Unrest supplies are Shipwright Materials

You can also search for “bundle unrest”

Comment by: Arglaar at 2008-01-25 03:34:33 (IP: Logged)

Great site. Love the new look and interface. Would it be possible to separate out the ship and captured ship deeds?

Comment by: A Friend at 2008-01-26 12:03:27 (IP: Logged)

Personally, site’s looking a little “dark” for my taste, but a suggestion to you, is make an “overview” tab in pricing sections.

People just want to know how much something is to make, having to calculate it all is annoying.

Keep up the good work

Comment by: A Friend at 2008-01-26 12:14:51 (IP: Logged)

More suggestions -

1) Printable checklist for Recipe books.

2) Trade missions - Las Hattas to Belize, Belize to ???, ??? to >>>. Could be handy if list can be made to go from one to another to another to another without so much stopping, know what I mean?

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-01-26 14:02:12 (IP: Logged)

The default view for each material shows the cost to make 1 item, broken down by material cost, structure costs and tax - the total is at the end. There is also a recipe calculator that will add up the cost of a recipe run with customisable tax rates and material costs (for purchased materials)

I’m currently working on a registration feature that will add a lot of personalised features to the site but it will take time.

I’m also working on a route planner for the LT quests.

Comment by: Oliver at 2008-01-27 15:05:47 (IP: Logged)

It would be nice if the “Structures required” part could be sorted by time required.

Love the site.

Comment by: Handsome Pete at 2008-01-29 05:26:13 (IP: Logged)

Is it possible to link to the search page from offsite at all? would be helpful to say.. speed up coordination on guild forums if would could take, say, the recipe books we have.. and append it on the end of a url and direct to this awesome site to find say, the recipes it makes, etc.

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-01-29 10:08:21 (IP: Logged)

You can do http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/search/your keywords here

eg. http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/a treatise on rigging

but you can also link directly to an item’s page eg. http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/structures/books/144

Terrific site, thanks for the effort and hard work, it’s very useful.

Perhaps I’m a bit dim, but I don’t quite understand ‘Optimal Setup’. What do those numbers mean?

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-01-30 08:51:03 (IP: Logged)

The explaination seems to have got lost in the redesign - the optimal setup is the number of each structure required to prodce the item so as to have no excess materials or labor.

eg. for iron ingots, 2 forges, 2 limestone quarrys and 1 iron mine will give allow you to produce iron with maximum efficiency.

Comment by: Parra at 2008-01-31 06:25:57 (IP: Logged)

Minor item but why do we not see the tax adjustment available on raw material costs?

Comment by: Elisabeth Thorpe at 2008-01-31 07:33:44 (IP: Logged)

Your price on leather is way too low! About 1/3 of the real cost. Just a tip.

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-01-31 14:26:03 (IP: Logged)

The price on leather is the real cost using livestock not game.

  • 100 Maize = 240db
  • 100 Maize => 10 livestock = 160db
  • 10 livestock => 40 crates of hides = 500db
  • 40 crates of hides => 40 leather = 240db

Total cost of 40 leather from livestock = 240+160+500+240 = 1140db
Price per leather = 28.5db (ex tax and structure costs)

  • 20 game animals from hunt game = 320db
  • 20 game animals => 10 crates of hides = 500db
  • 10 crates of hides => 10 leather = 60db

Total cost of 10 leather from game animals = 320+500+60 = 880db
Price per leather = 88db (ex tax and structure costs)

A very nice Site, Well done, my Compliments

Comment by: Red Marauder at 2008-02-04 23:44:10 (IP: Logged)

Great site and very useful. Thank you!

One suggestion for a new tool. I’m often exchanging goods with my society mates. We produce things that each other needs so often we get really complicated trades with goods going both ways and cash to make up the difference, so that neither of us loses out. It is a pain in the bum to work out what the total cost of each of our goods is, then subtract to see who needs to top up with cash.

It would be great to have a tool on this site for that. So you could select which goods and how many each of us is exchanging, then the tool would work out their relative values and calculate how much cash one of us needs to give.

Also, we operate a production cost + 10% rule in our society, so it would be grate if you could incorporate this profit margin in as well.

Keep up the good work!

Red Marauder

It looks like you are using a charge of 0.01 db per minute of production time. Is this correct?

What is the justification for the low number compared to Monthar spreadsheet that uses 25 db/hr?

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-02-06 13:57:21 (IP: Logged)

I’m not going to explain/justify the decisions of another developer other than to say that the 25db per hour on Monthar’s spreadsheet is in addition to structure maintenance.

The prices listed here are intended to be the actual production costs or as close as we can get.

Most structures are 200 or 400 db upkeep per week, with the exception of gold mines and shipyards. There are 168 hours in a week. 200/168 = 1.2db per hour. 400/168 = 2.4db per hour

There seems to be a problem with the price calculation for Cerberus (any). It takes a Large Hull which costs 13.5k dbl see: http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/materials/show/501 but the cost of making a Cerberus frig is 9.7k dbl see: http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/materials/show/323

Is that correct?

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-02-08 20:38:28 (IP: Logged)

It only takes 1/3rd of a large hull. The recipe creates 3 ship deeds.

Comment by: Red Marauder at 2008-02-10 01:12:35 (IP: Logged)

I’ve spotted a mistake in the Local Trader’s Quests. The mission from Puerto del Principe to Santo Domingo is listed as 50 Teak Planks but it’s actually 50 Teak Logs.

Comment by: OJ at 2008-02-18 17:12:52 (IP: Logged)

Why is the cost of http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/materials/show/399 30k for Basic and 37k for Advanced?

Comment by: OJ at 2008-02-18 17:15:08 (IP: Logged)

Compare http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/recipes/show/167 and http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/recipes/show/828. You multiply required time by a factor of 1.2 instead of 0.8 for the advanced recipe.

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-02-18 23:10:23 (IP: Logged)

Tell it to the developers ;) There are a few advanced recipes that are incorrect in game. Large and Huge hulls are 2 such recipes. Any recipe that uses large or huge hulls will be more expensive to create using the advanced versions.

Comment by: tgoVIPER at 2008-02-21 20:34:28 (IP: Logged)

I’d like to be able to know at a base level what materials I’ll need. For instance, instead of saying I need a medium hull and a medium square rig for a ship, allow me to select an option that just says I need ‘X’ oak logs and ‘Y’ iron ingots, etc

Thoughts?

P.S. This is a great resource!

Comment by: DV at 2008-03-03 16:27:19 (IP: Logged)

I like this site but theres only 1 suggestion I have. I make brass and I get my copper at a different tax rate than my zinc. In your cost calculator I would either have to calculate everything at 5% or everything at 20%. maybe you could have the user set the tax rate for different materials or click all the same or something thanks

Comment by: Simstress at 2008-03-05 12:59:57 (IP: Logged)

The recipe calculator allows you to set tax rates on each material individually.

Theres a bug with Advanced Bronze shot, the prize u have set on it, is the same as the normal Bronze Shot, But that is not correct. ADS i much more expensive to build than NBS…

So basically what I’m understanding about the Euro-Traders is that considering the info you have listed it’s a losing propossition?

Comment by: The Baconater at 2008-03-29 13:49:12 (IP: Logged)

Great site with tons of helpfulinformation. Thank you! I am looking for a list by port of the loot item collection each junk dealer will exchange for drinkable buffs. I.e., Port Royal - Collection of Gold, La Belle- Collection of Obsidian. It would be helpful to list the rewarsd given as well. The map is always red for me to be able to go to each town and get this info. :-)

I’ll check back here shortly to see if someone can direct me to this information.

Great site, excellent layout. Please could you update to show the changes made in the last patch. Like Minerva frigate and the new prices of the Alexander (now some of the ships coem with one less durability).

Comment by: Hal at 2008-04-18 19:42:07 (IP: Logged)

AS Spencer said, great site, but it needs the new recipies added in.

I’ve found an error:

Cure Game requires Game Animals, not beef.

Comment by: Quan Santiago-Spain-Antigua at 2008-05-03 07:32:24 (IP: Logged)

It would be a nice touch to include a tutorial on Freetrader respec and how its done. That would go nicely with the skills calculator.

Comment by: anonymous at 2008-05-05 00:09:23 (IP: Logged)

I believe the recipe calculator has a problem. It doesn’t seem to be factoring in the quantity that is output.

I am looking at Advanced structure deeds ~ but not sure if I can build/use them as a pirate. I suspect I can use some of them, maybe add a note? Good work on the site.

Comment by: Faden at 2008-06-11 12:44:25 (IP: Logged)

When looking at a product or structure it would be good to see where that is produced.

Perhaps at the top a link tree listing like this Where deed is created > Structure > Product (where you are viewing now)

I’m wondering who is maintaining this website. It seems that person is busy with other things, since several items are outdated. I would add comments about items if i knew this site was maintained. But I’m just not sure at the moment. It would be a shame though, since it simply rocks!

Comment by: Keline at 2008-07-13 00:58:35 (IP: Logged)

I am actually surprised this site is still online given how outdated it is at this point. No 60 / 80% taxes, some recipes that were changed in 1.2 are still not updated etc.

Comment by: Bing at 2008-07-20 21:41:09 (IP: Logged)

PLEASE update. I’ll donate if you update… :)

Comment by: Flaknugget at 2008-07-30 18:27:18 (IP: Logged)

I’m fairly certain that the price of leather listed here is wrong, someone please let me know.

I figures the actual cost per unit is more like 80, not 34. But it’s probably one of many things here that needs an update.

Any chance of opening this site up to editing by us users?
